What is a dental bridge?
If you are missing one or more permanent teeth, Dr. Charles Anonye may recommend a dental bridge in York, Pennsylvania. A dental bridge is an appliance that closes the gaps in your smile by replacing missing teeth. A dental bridge is made up of dental crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap, which are called the abutment teeth. A replacement tooth is attached between the dental crowns.
What are the benefits of dental bridges?
Our dentist may recommend a dental bridge to:
- Restore your smile
- Restore your ability to eat and speak properly
- Maintain your face shape
- Properly distribute your bite
- Prevent your natural teeth from drifting
How is a dental bridge placed?
To place a dental bridge, our dentist will first remove a small amount of enamel from the abutment teeth. This will allow room for the dental bridge in your smile. Impressions of your teeth are taken so your dental bridge can be custom made. When the dental bridge is ready, our dentist will place it in your mouth to check the fit. Any needed adjustments are made and then our dentist will permanently cement the dental bridge in place.
